FLEXMOTOR is a spin-out company from the Nanotechnology group of Cranfield University, that was established in 1994 by Professor R.W. Whatmore.

We focus on both micromotors for developing MEMS, Lab-on-chip, and ultrasonic motors for consumer products.

  • CHALLENGE 1: Actuators and motors less than 10mm size are too weak, expensive or cannot be integrated to planar PCBs/chips.
    • FLEXMOTOR answer with planar micromotors to 2mm with high torque, easily integrated and scalable in production and size.
  • CHALLENGE 2: To gain the performance benefits of piezo motors in consumer and volume products.
    • FLEXMOTOR answer with high performance, simple to integrate ultrasonic motors which are easily mass produced.

Our aim is to integrate our piezo motor products successfully into multiple industries and product categories. We welcome developing links with further companies to integrate our products with theirs.
